Transcription: The sun's energy powers the water cycle. Its heat causes water to evaporate into the atmosphere from oceans, lakes and rivers. More than 80% of this evaporation takes place from the surface of the oceans. Water vapour in the air is carried by the winds to other parts of the ocean or to the continents. It cools and condenses and falls as rain. The rainwater either seeps into the ground or runs off into rivers and lakes and eventually returns to the ocean.
